Hawley Health Centre - Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy

Nutritional Therapy is a complementary therapy that can work well alongside traditional medicine to help support health and wellbeing.

A Nutritional Therapist considers your diet, lifestyle, health symptoms/concerns and family history to develop an achievable personalised diet and lifestyle program, recognising that each person is unique and has individual nutritional needs.

Nutrition supplements and functional testing may also be recommended where appropriate.

A Nutritional Therapist is trained to identify whether you are low in specific vitamins and minerals or don’t consume a balance of healthy fats, protein and carbohydrate. They will then help you make changes to your diet that may benefit the following –

  • Digestive health – indigestion, acid reflux
  • Bowel health – constipation, diarrhoea, flatulence, IBS
  • Heart health – blood pressure, cholesterol
  • Skin health – rashes, acne
  • Fatigue, low energy
  • Blood sugar control
  • Weight loss or gain
  • Hormone balance (thyroid, reproduction, stress)
  • Low mood

Initial consultation (approx. 1hr 15mins) £80

Includes a personalised wellness plan and a 15 minute telephone consultation to discuss your progress between appointments

Follow up consultation (approx. 45 mins) £50

Note: Nutritional Therapy cannot diagnose and it is recommended that if you have a health condition or symptoms that you are concerned about that you consult with your GP first.

Food Allergy/Intolerance Testing

Do you suspect a food intolerance/sensitivity?

Common food intolerances include dairy, wheat, nuts and eggs but potentially any food can cause an adverse reaction resulting in symptoms including –

  • Unexplained weight gain/loss
  • Headaches/migraine
  • Indigestion/heartburn
  • Bloating
  • Bowel problems (diarrhoea, constipation, cramp, flatulence)
  • Achy joints/muscle pain
  • Fatigue
  • Skin problems

Food intolerances are different from allergies as the symptoms quite often take anything from a few hours to a few days to appear,

making it difficult to identify culprit foods. An elimination and challenge diet is the gold standard for identifying food intolerances and it is recommended that if you do eliminate foods you do so under the supervision of a health professional. A Nutritional Therapist can guide you through the process and ensure your diet still includes the necessary essential nutrients.

Food intolerance tests are also available at additional cost.

Starting from £50.
